DOP (Di - Octyl Phthalate)

Description

DOP is the most widely used of all vinyl plasticizers, often the "standart" against which PVC plasticizers are jugged. It is also in cellulose acetate-butyrate, ethyl cellulose, natural or synthetic rubber and in many laquers.

Applications

In PVC plastisols DOP can be widely used for calendering, dip coating, fabric coating, extrusion and moulding. With acetate-butyrate, ethyl cellulose and natural or synthetic rubber in making film, sheeting, textile coatings, electrical formulations, adhesives and many types of protective coatings and hot melts.

Advantages

1. Is compatible with most common resins and affords good resin solvation.
2. Is stable to light and heat.
3. Provides the optimum performance at a reasonable cost level.
4. Exhibits good low temperature performance.
5. Has low extraction by oil, water and soap solutions.
6. Has excellent dielectric properties.
7. Imparts permanent flexibility.
8. In interior laquers, improves cold-check resistance.
9. In automotive laquers, exhibits good rubbing and polishing in addition to good initial gloss, retention and resistance to chalking.
